This website is about various areas in the Antelope Valley of Southern California where wildflowers can usually be found from late February through June. Because when the wildflowers will actually be in bloom depends on many factors, call either of the wildflower hotline numbers, listed below, for info on where blossoms can be found. The above photo was taken in the Western Antelope Valley area, south of the Tehachapi Mountains, seen in the background, during the "Great Bloom of 1991" (Click "D" on the map below). This was the year in which springtime conditions were just right for one of the best displays of wildflowers, especially poppies, seen in the Antelope Valley area in many years.

Basic Info:

From the LA Basin, head towards the Golden State (I-5) and Foothill (I-210) freeway interchange (click here for driving directions) and then take Interstate 5 (Golden State Fwy) North. Continue north for about 44 miles and get off at the Gorman offramp (Click "A" on map below). Turn right on Gorman School Road then right again on Gorman Post Rd. Continue on Gorman Post Road keeping a lookout on the rolling hills to your left (Click "B" on the map below), stopping whenever you see good patches of wild flowers.

Most of the pictures from the 1991 season and the 2005 season were taken in an area (Click "D" on map below) I found above the California Aqueduct by heading north on 300th Street (Click "C" on map below). The photos from the 2010 Season were taken along Gorman Post Road (Click "B" on map below) and the California Poppy Reserve (Click "E" on map below).
