Monrovia Canyon Park - Deer Park Cabin Lodge

1911-1945

This is an old photo of Ben Overturff's Deer Park Cabin Lodge. The lodge was a popular weekend get-away for the city dwellers from approximately 1911-1945, when Mr. Overturff had to abandon it due to his declining health. The U.S. Forest Service demolished the cabin in the early 1970s to end unauthorized use. Many artifacts still remain to be enjoyed by the hearty hikers who climb this 6.5 mile (RT), moderately rated trail with its 1700 foot net elevation gain.
