Monrovia Canyon Park - Sticky Monkeyflower

(Mimulus aurantiacus)

Sticky Monkeyflower seen alongside the Bill Cull Trail. This native member of the Figwort family has narrow "opposite" leaves that are shiny and sticky on the top surfaces. Native Americans used the flowers and roots of this plant as an antiseptic for small cuts and burns.
