I was invited to go on a 3 day backpacking trip to Mt. Whitney by my friend Steve Spicer. Steve was the leader of a Sierra Madre Boy Scout troup and was leading a group (14 scouts and 7 adults) on this hike. I thought climbing the tallest mountain in the continental United States would be great way to celebrate the year I turned 40.
