"Lost but not Forgotten" |

I had heard about the City of Indianapolis' Solders and Sailors Monument (SSM) and their Brick of Honor (BOH) commemorative program from another member
of the "Indy Family" as we call ourselves. So, in August of 2021, I ordered a BOH for my Uncle, Paul Dollins, who was a Radioman 2nd Class (RM2)
on board the USS Indianapolis. Paul was lost at sea (LAS), along with 879 of his fellow shipmates, when the ship was sunk by the Japanese submarine I-58 just after midnite on July 30, 1945.
In October of 2021, I received a letter from the Indianapolis War Memorial Foundation (IWMF) containing the photos of my Uncle Paul's BOH plus
a Certificate and Map of its location in the Northwest (NW) quadrant of the monument. It was then I found out from other Indy Family Members, that all the BOH's,
for other Indy crewmemen, were installed in the Northeast (NE) quadrant of the monument. So, after a few E-mails and phone calls,
my Uncle Paul's BOH was relocated to the NE quadrant and once again, Paul was re-united with his shipmates.

SPECIAL NOTE: When ordering a BOH for a member of the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) crew, make sure to specify the
requested location of the brick to be in the "Northeast (NE) Quadrant" of the monument.
