A pair of Acorn Woodpeckers on the trunk of a Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia), with a male Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna), hovering in the background. The bird on the right is the male because his red "cap" touches the white forehead. The female has a black band separating the red cap from the white forehead.
