Monrovia Canyon Park - Lemonade Berry

(Rhus integrifolia)

This member of the Sumac Family (Anacardiaceae), also known as the Lemonade Sumac, can be found in the park and along the lower Clamshell Truck Trail in the Monrovia Wilderness Preserve (MWR), where these photos were taken. In appearance, this plant closely resembles the Sugar Bush but differs in that the leathery leaves of the Lemonadeberry are flatter and usually toothed along the edges.
