In 2014, the new Cunningham Overlook Trail, named after senior MCP Volunteer and Trail Boss, Ed Cunningham, was officially opened to the public. This short (.4 mile) trail, off the Bill Cull Trail, winds through thick stands of Chaparral Whitethorn (Ceanothus leucodermis), Laurel Sumac (Malosma laurina), Live Oaks (Quercus agrifolia) and Sugarbush (Rhus ovata) to a small lookout bench at an elevation of approximately 1,500ft. Here you will have fantastic views of Monrovia and parts of the San Gabriel Valley including, on clear days, views of Long Beach and Catalina Island, 30 and 60 miles away respectively.
